The description of the Group Proposal was for me and my group members to come up with an invention and talk about it. In our explanation of this product, we are also tasked with informing our audience of where the inspiration for this invention came from, and the process that we would undergo to build this invention (including cost, material, and time). In order to go about this, two parts to this assignment are needed, this being the with a written paper and an oral presentation.
This group assignment was the first one of my college career and has helped opened my eyes to what is expected of me in a group setting, such as communication, initiative, and teamwork. Communication plays a big part here because, for anything to be set in motion with your group, you have to make sure that everyone is on the same page and knows what role they play in the project. Communication also ties into teamwork. When you are able to communicate your ideas with each other the work becomes more effective and efficient.
To take initiative means not waiting for someone or something to give you the green light and being self-resourceful. When talking over with my group members, we realized that it would be very difficult to talk about our invention in front of an audience without some type of visualization, knowing this I took it upon myself to learn some basics of AutoCAD to materialism our invention. Doing this made the whole process easier for my group members and me.
